Master's degree programme in Autonomous Maritime Operations

The programme aims to educate engineers and seafarers to meet the requirements for the fourth industrial revolution in maritime technology.  The programme has a special focus on the digitalization of maritime operations. The Master’s degree programme is provided by Novia University of Applied Sciences. The degree title is Master of Engineering, Autonomous Maritime Operations. The programme comprises 60 ECTS and the study language is English.

The programme has a special focus concerning the digitalization of maritime operations. The studies include 6 courses of relevant subjects each of an extent of 5 credits. Following subjects are covered:

  • Introduction to studies and introduction to Marine operations
  • Autonomous vessels-automation
  • Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Human-Machine Interaction
  • Remote Operations
  • Cyber Security and Connectivity
  • Classification, Qualification and Safety Perspectives

Eligibility to apply and application

The application period for this programme has ended. Eligibility to apply to this programme is conferred by an appropriate UAS Bachelor’s degree or another appropriate higher education degree and at least three years of subsequent work experience in a relevant field. An appropriate Bachelor’s degree in a related field for this programme can be Bachelor of Marine Technology, Captain; Bachelor of Engineering (seafaring), or another appropriate Bachelor’s degree completed in a relevant field such as maritime, marine engineering, automation engineering or ICT engineering.
