Maritime Cyber Security Introduction Course

1-day course covering IMO’s regulations and guidelines on cyber risk management onboard ships. The regulations are mandatory as of 1 January 2021. This course aims to be an eye opener with real examples from the shipping industry partly demonstrated through  simulator demonstrations. The focus lies on how to prepare the organization against cyber security threats.

Upon completing this training, the participant will

  • understand the current requirements set by IMO’s regulations and guidelines on cyber risk management onboard ships
  • be familiar with threats, threat actors and their objectives
  • know how to identify potential cybersecurity incidents
  • understand and participate in the management of cyber security strategies and actions within an organization or onboard a ship

The course is intended for Masters, chief engineers, officers and other ship personnel. DPA:s and shipping company personnel involved directly or indirectly in cyber security.

Course compliance IMO’s regulations and guidelines on cyber risk management onboard ships SMS (Safety Management Systems) requirements. The cyber risks must be appropriately addressed in existing safety management systems (as defined in the ISM Code) no later than the first annual verification of the company’s Document of Compliance after 1 Januari 2021
Assessment Knowledge, skills and attitude are assessed through LMS polls and discussion
Certification Each participant that has completed the course successfully will be issued a certificate
