Basic Training for Oil and Chemical Tanker Cargo Operations

COURSE DESCRIPTION

3-day basic course for oil and chemical tanker cargo operations. Two days of theoretical training takes place at Aboa Mare in Turku or online and one day of practical firefighting training takes place at Meriturva Maritime Safety Training Centre, Upinniemi, Finland. The course is intended for officers, ratings and engine crew working on tanker vessels. This course covers the requirements set by STCW and IMO Model Course 1.01.

UPON COMPLETING THIS TRAINING, THE PARTICIPANT WILL

At Aboa Mare Maritime Academy and Training Center, we use the latest state-of-the-art simulator equipment and pedagogical tools to provide an enhanced maritime training experience in a simulated environment, promoting teamwork, critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making and confidence. We are specialized on simulation, ice navigation (Polar Code and azimuthing propulsion courses in ice) and IGF Code courses for LNG fueled ships. Aboa Mare’s first-rate simulators are also used for research, innovation, and development projects.

Prerequisites

A trainee attending the course is required to fulfil minimum STCW Basic training for oil and tanker operations requirements for A-V/1-1-1.

Assessment

Knowledge is assessed with a written exam. Competences and skills are assessed during the course.
