Watchkeeping Officer
As a watchkeeping officer you work as an officer on a merchant vessel in international traffic or as a captain on a smaller vessel trafficking in the Baltic Sea area. After the vocational qualification on first degree you can apply to a university of applied sciences, which has maritime studies on its curriculum - after these further studies you qualify as a master mariner. The watchkeeping officer certificate is valid all over the world and follows the international STCW Convention (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping 1995).
